The Mourning

On 13th October 2016 at 15:52, King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej passed away in Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, after a long illness. A long-year period was announced then, followed by an immediate request to the citizens of Thailand to refrain from participating in joyful events or entertainment during a 30-day period.

The remains of the king were transported to the Royal Grand Palace for the customary mourning practices and will remind there until the expected cremation takes place. The surrounding area of Sanam Luang, in front of the Royal Grand Palace, was set as an attending camp, providing shelter, food or medical assistance to all the mourners coming from all over Thailand expecting to express their condolences.
